Parameter Analysis of Active Flap Control for Rotor Aerodynamic Control and Design

Active rotor control of helicopters is the future development direction, and active flap (AFC) one most promising technologies. However, numerical simulation an AFC challenging. It necessary to consider fidelity local flow details while dealing with complex shapes motions. Therefore, few simulations field analyses influencing parameters have been conducted. In particular, there a lack aerodynamic design criteria recommendations for rotor. Thus, new overset assembly algorithm, arbitrary multilevel moving grid transformation solver unsteady Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations (URANS) are proposed establish suitable method simulation. The characteristics key factors systematically analyzed under different conditions parameters, suggestions provided. results show that significantly changes load distribution thrust loss approximately 1%, but offset angle compensates loss. relatively consistent trends working conditions. phase parameter, effect on more pronounced when frequency integral multiple rotor’s natural frequency. Increasing chord length, span deflection amplitude can also enhance performance.
